Engaging Methuen Readers

Did you know that January is National Soup Month?  Nothing warms us up like a good book and a warm bowl of soup.  Here at the library we have many (and I mean many) cookbooks with great soup recipes.

Working in the children’s room there are several great stories about the topic of soup to read with kids .  A few of my favorite stories are:

  • Growing Vegetable Soup by Lois Ehlert – It is a story about how a wonderful garden grows into a great meal.
  • Stone Soup by Marcia Brown – A wonderful story about bringing a town together over a community cauldron of delicious soup made with one special ingredient.
  • The Cat who Liked Potato Soup by Terry Farish – Two unlikely friends bond over their favorite activity followed by their favorite meal of potato soup.

Enjoy and stay warm!
