All The Places We Are

by Danielle Kimerer

Here at the Nevins Library
There are many ways to get
Books that can indeed carry
You from Boston to Tibet

But did you know that we have got
Programs of all forms
From a Boxwood in a pot
To a weatherman on storms?

It is therefore quite great
Then for me to say
That there are more than eight
Places through which our message we convey

First, we have our website proper
It has Slides and Posts galore
For any program looker, shopper
And if you stay awhile, even more

We then have the site on which you’re reading this
Through book and program posts we aim
For you to find your bliss
And if your TBR pile grows, we’re not to blame…

Have you read our Newsletter yet?
It comes out once every fourth week
Has events for all ages you can bet,
And gives you more of what you seek

Or if you prefer to read in print
Our illustrious director has a MethuenLife column/section
Of all our programs you can get a hint
And have time for a bit of coffee-fueled reflection

We also have a Facebook page
You can like, follow, and such
Come take a look or engage
We’d like that very, very much

Our Twitter has lots of info, that’s true
With hashtags, mentions, and more, by threefold
Hey, there’s even a weekly haiku
Going out to all 1000+ followers we currently hold!!

Our Instagram may just make you tarry
Over pictures of our books and displays
Or here and there of our beautiful library
We love any and all praise

We have two Tumblrs
Nevins Teens and A Book A Day
I promise we’re not mumblers
Join us, read a meme, stay and play

The LoopWeekly we’re sometimes in
And usually we’re on the Commonwealth Calendar at MassBook
The former will give you a grin
The latter also has the whole state over which you can look

Okay I’m done, this time I swear
We’re all waiting to see you today
Whether it’s on your way home, or just getting some air
All the books you could want and not one cent to pay

Adulting @ the Nevins Library

Help! Will someone please teach me how to be an adult?!

No worries, the Nevins Library is here!

adulting

“To ‘adult’ is to behave like an adult, specifically to do the things—often mundane—that an adult is expected to do.

It’s also common as a gerund—that is, in the form adulting as a noun, as in “Adulting is hard” or “I’m not very good at adulting.”

To adult is to behave like an adult, to do the things that adults regularly have to do. This includes things like having a job and living independently, sure, but also such mundanities as taking clothes to the dry cleaners (and remembering to pick them up), making and keeping dental appointments, getting your car registered, doing yardwork.”

from Merriam-Webster

Luckily, the Nevins Library is offering an “adulting” series to help you learn the basics of cooking, financial literacy, applying for college and sewing.  Click on the links above to check out the description of the programs, the dates, and to register.
